At Macarthur Paediatric Dentistry, our aim is to keep as many teeth as possible to preserve your child’s ability to eat and confidence to smile. Our specialist paediatric dentists achieve this by using a range of comprehensiveprocedures, including restoring teeth with dental fillings, stainless steel crowns and pulp (root canal) treatment.
• Fillings
We commonly use white, tooth-coloured fillings to restore both bank and front baby and adult teeth in cases of decay or broken down teeth. These fillings give the teeth a natural look and feel, which makes them comfortable to chew with.
• Dental Crowns
If your child’s molar/back teeth are affected by extensive decay or are chalky in nature, stainless steel crowns are a strong and predictable option to help preserve teeth. Saving baby teeth in this way helps to preserve space for when your child’s adult teeth start to emerge, which can prevent overcrowding.
• Pulp Treatment (‘Baby Tooth Root Canal’)
If a cavity or crack in a tooth gets so deep that it affects the nerve inside the tooth, it can sometimes cause a toothache, infection and swelling. In order to save the tooth and prevent further pain and swelling, our specialists can perform pulp treatment, otherwise known as root canal treatment. This can take the form of a ‘pulpotomy’ or a ‘pulpectomy’.
Our Approach to Restorative Dental Care
At Macarthur Paediatric Dentistry, we prioritise your child’s comfort and well-being throughout the restorative treatment process. Our experienced paediatric dentists utilise gentle techniques and advanced technology to ensure a positive, stress-free experience for your child.
If your child is especially anxious or has special needs, we also have the option to perform treatment under sedation (happy gas) or general anaesthetic (sleep dentistry).
