What is a PD?

Paediatric Dentistry (PD)

Paediatric Dentistry is an age-defined specialty that provides both primary and comprehensive preventive and therapeutic oral health care for infants and children through adolescence, including those with special healthcare needs.

Registered specialist paediatric dentists are required to complete at least 2 years of clinical dental practice and 3 years of specialist training following a dental degree.

The speciality encompasses all aspects of dentistry, recognising that children are unique in their stages of development, oral disease, and oral health treatment needs.

The paediatric dentist is recognised as a primary care provider as well as a resource for specialty referral for all children. Paediatric Dentistry also includes treatment of children and adolescents with special needs.

Although we are dental specialists YOU DO NOT NEED A REFERRAL to book an appointment with us.

Should you want your child seen by a specialist, feel free to call us on (02) 9188-0202, email us at hello@macpd.net.au or book online.
